A Message from the Head of School

For many of us, determining who we are and what motivates us is a lifelong journey. A week after my college graduation I found a career that would change my life. My heart led me directly into a middle school classroom for children with learning challenges. It was here that I discovered my true passion.

Watching a child read for the first time or write an inspiring essay gives me goose bumps. Who wouldn’t want to help students explore their talents on stage, use a microscope, make new friends, become immersed in nature, or learn the multiplication tables? All children deserve a chance to learn in an environment that feels safe and stimulating.

Through an incredible gift of 250 acres and a state-of-the-art learning facility, the team at Windham Woods is making school exciting for students who learn differently. Our philosophy is simple; students who are eager to arrive at school will be more motivated to succeed. Using a dynamic, hands-on curriculum that incorporates core classes, outdoor learning, and relationship building strategies, our teachers have the freedom to create lessons that engage children in meaningful ways.

At Windham Woods, we are family to our families. Students feel accepted and appreciated in a culture that emphasizes respect, compassion, and kindness. Parents can breathe easily knowing their child is understood.

The educators at Windham Woods School are driven to change the landscape for students who deserve a fresh approach to learning. We are doing school differently. What could be more thrilling than that?
